The 718 Cayman GT4 was the first application of Porsche's new 4.0-liter naturally aspirated flat-six, producing 414 horsepower and 309 lb-ft of torque and revving to 8,000 rpm. For the 2020 model year, Porsche offered the GT4 exclusively with a 6-speed manual gearbox — a PDK option arrived in later years — and quotes a 0-60 mph time of 4.2 seconds with a top speed near 189 mph. The chassis borrows its front axle and brakes from the contemporary 911 GT3, with a GT4-specific rear axle, adaptive PASM dampers, a mechanical locking differential, and a ride height roughly 30mm lower than a standard 718. The fixed rear wing and underbody diffuser were engineered to generate meaningfully more downforce than the previous-generation Cayman GT4 while reducing drag, reflecting the car's origin in Porsche's Motorsport department rather than as a trim-level upgrade.
